Other Ways We Participate tries

Epiphany is a caring community – quick to reach out and help each other in times of need with practical help and to offer prayers for those in need. There are always opportunities to lend a helping hand or listening ear, some of which are listed below.

During church service, we pray for those in need during the Prayers of the People. We also have a prayer ministry call Mustard Seed, whose members pray for those in need and for the congregation and community on a weekly basis.

The Casserole Brigade is available to parishioners who need meals during home hospice, convalescence, or bereavement.

Contact the church office at 860-349-9644.

Christians have always been known for their love for each other, and helping out is one of the major ways we demonstrate this love.

Besides Pastoral Visitors and Eucharistic Visitors, there are other official channels of help, too.

Eucharistic Ministers are also licensed by the diocese. They are trained by clergy to assist during the Great Thanksgiving portion of the service. They help administer communion to the people as they come forward to the altar rail for Eucharist. Their role is to take the Chalice.

Lay Readers are also licensed by the Diocese and are trained by clergy to read scripture lessons and psalms during the service as well as to be prayer intercessors during the service. This means that they lead the Prayers of the People during the service.  Some are especially trained to lead Morning and Evening Prayer (lay-lead services that we use occasionally).

We also have Intercessors who lead the parish in the Prayers of the People which is a part of every worship service.

The Acolyte Corps comprises children and teens, 2nd grade and older, who serve during our worship service. They are trained by the Rector. They serve as Crucifers, Torch Bearers and Acolytes.  If your child would like to serve as an acolyte, please call the church office at 860-349-9644.
